Position Overview:
The Fiberglass & Paint Technician is responsible for repairing, restoring, and refinishing boats, with a primary focus on fiberglass repair, bodywork, surface preparation, painting, and finishing. This position requires a skilled, detail-oriented technician who can independently manage repairs from start to finish while maintaining high-quality workmanship, safe work practices, and an organized shop environment. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of bodywork experience, strong communication and organizational skills, and knowledge of boat and RV repair processes and components.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform structural and cosmetic fiberglass repairs on boats
- Assess and repair damaged fiberglass and composite materials
- Perform bodywork, sanding, shaping, and surface preparation
- Prepare surfaces for primer, paint, and final finishes
- Apply paint, gelcoat, and other coatings as needed
- Blend and match finishes to achieve a professional appearance
- Inspect completed repairs to ensure quality and workmanship standards are met
- Safely operate and maintain shop tools and equipment
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Follow established repair procedures, safety standards, and quality expectations
- Communicate repair progress and any additional issues identified during the repair
- Work efficiently and independently while meeting production and completion expectations
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- 5+ years prior experience in the bodywork industry
- Experience with JobTread (preferred but not required)
- Strong computer proficiency
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
- Knowledge of Boat & RV components, repair processes, and terminology
Position Details:
- Reports to: General Manager
- Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM CST
- Location: JBRV Shop in Ponder, TX
- Compensation: Hourly pay $25.00-$30.00 + option for flag time (rates based on experience and qualifications)
